| Red Sox Walk Off with 4-3 Win | The Memphis Red Sox faced a tough opponent in Chicago pitcher Homer Bailey, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Elvis Stadium by a final score of 4-3. Bailey went 6.2 innings and allowed 2 runs. Memphis reliever Carlos A Diaz picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Stan Ferens shouldered the loss. The Federals fall to 5-8 and continue their uninspiring start to the 2005 season.
Roy Sievers was the walk-off hero for Memphis. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Red Sox pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
Chicago manager Chase Castner said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
