| Federals Lose to Stars, 5-2 | The Detroit Stars stymied the Chicago Federals, 5-2, at Tiger Stadium. Alex Rodriguez had a good day at the plate. He hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for Detroit. Bill Donovan finished to wrap up his 1st save. Chicago falls to 1-1.
With Detroit leading 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Rodriguez hit a fastball from Bob Welch for a 2-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Stars ahead, 3-0.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Detroit manager David Mollicone.
