Birmingham Blanked by Foster | Willie Foster kept the opposition off the scoreboard and the Milwaukee Bears were all smiles after winning 3-0 against the Birmingham Black Barons at County Stadium today. The left-handed Foster gave up no runs in his start, permitted 3 hits and had 4 strikeouts.
"If there was a stat for 'team shutout,' this would be it," Foster said later. "My catcher called a great game, guys delivered at the plate and when I messed something up the guys behind me were where they needed to be."
This season Foster has a 2-1 mark in 5 starts with a 1.34 ERA. He has given up 32 hits in 40.1 innings, struck out 21 and issued 4 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .219 batting average against him. | | | | |
