Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for American Giants | Chicago and Boston duked it out and the American Giants came out victorious.
The Chicago American Giants took Boston pitcher Tom L Hughes's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Fenway Park II. The final score had Chicago getting past the Americans, 7-4. Hughes went 7.1 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 6. Chicago is still hoping to get on a roll. The win is just their 9th in 23 games.
Chicago used the timely hitting of Steve Garvey to capture the win. The third baseman stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the ninth inning to put the American Giants on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
"I just tried to make good contact," said Garvey. | | | | |
