| Leonard Slugs Stars to 5-2 Win | The Detroit Stars stopped the New York Black Yankees, 5-2, at Yankee Stadium I. The Stars got a big game from Jeffrey Leonard, who hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Dallas Braden picked up the win, improving his season record to 1-1. He struck out 2 in 7.1 innings. Rob Dibble locked down his 5th save.
In the top of the second, with the game still scoreless, Leonard hit a 2-run home run to put his team in the lead.
"You can't take yourself too seriously," Leonard told the Detroit Chronicle. "But at the end of the day, we do play to win ballgames."
The Black Yankees fall to 10-14 and continue to sputter in the early going.
