| Federals Deal Stars 8-3 Defeat | The timely hitting of Pete Hill helped the Chicago Federals down the Detroit Stars, 8-3. Hill went 1 for 4 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Federals. Don Liddle picked up the win with 6.1 innings of work. He allowed 3 runs on 5 hits, while walking 5 and striking out 2. On the season, he is now 6-3. Chicago is now 58-66. Detroit is 69-54.
Chicago used the bat of Willie Wells to capture the win. The shortstop jacked a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Federals ahead, 4-3. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Chicago manager Chase Castner.
