| Red Sox Score Late, Top Stars, 6-2 | Memphis and Detroit got after it at Tiger Stadium.
Detroit got a terrific performance from pitcher Jesse Tannehill, but it wasn't enough to beat the Memphis Red Sox. Memphis won the Tiger Stadium contest, 6-2. Tannehill threw 8 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. The victory gives Memphis a record of 76-49.
The most critical at-bat came in the top of the ninth inning. With no one out, Glenn Wright hit a 2-1 fastball from Rob Dibble for a run-scoring single. It put Memphis in front, 3-2.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Wright.
