| Red Sox Upend Stars, 12-10 | Memphis right fielder Kevin Mench was a significant contributor in his team's 12-10 triumph over the Detroit Stars. He was 2-5 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4 for Memphis. Memphis reliever Mark Small picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Byron Houck absorbed the loss. Carlos A Diaz was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 28 of 31 save opportunities.
Had Kirt Manwaring not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Manwaring hit a 2-run single. That made the score 12-10, in favor of the Red Sox.
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Manwaring.
At 77-50, the Red Sox have a slim two-game lead in the Senior Circuit Mama Mia.
