| Black Barons Top Eagles, 3-1, Behind Ashby | Birmingham and Houston duked it out and the Black Barons came out victorious.
The Birmingham Black Barons topped the Houston Eagles, 3-1, in Senior Circuit action at Buffalo Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Birmingham pitcher and Kansas City, Missouri, native Andy Ashby. Robbie Weinhardt notched his 13th save in 19 chances.
Ashby's performance can only be described as masterful. He notched 3 strikeouts in 8.2 innings while allowing 3 hits. Ashby goes to 4-6 on the year with 82 strikeouts.
"We put together a nice win," Ashby said.
The victory gives Birmingham a record of 68-61.
