| Memphis Bats Go Silent in 5-0 Loss | Getting an impressive start from Al Leiter, Birmingham beat Memphis by the score of 5-0. The win gives Birmingham a record of 2-0.
The Black Barons took the lead in the bottom of the fourth. With one out, Vic Power hit a solo home run off Memphis pitcher Ownie Carroll, putting Birmingham in front, 2-0. For the game, Power was 1 for 4 with a home run.
"I don't lose sleep over a loss," said Leiter. "But I have better dreams after a win."
