| Stars Lose By a Run at Yokohama, 2-1 | Detroit wasted a solid 7.1-inning effort from starting pitcher Jesse Tannehill, losing to Yokohama, 2-1, at Kanagawa Prefecture Park. Mike Hampton, the winning pitcher, is now 5-4. He went 7 innings, allowing 1 run on 6 hits, while fanning 3 and walking 3. Brad Brach notched his 15th save in 19 chances.
Andruw Jones drove in one run for Yokohama. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the sixth inning, Jones, who finished 2nd in the NL in wins above replacement with 6.6 last year, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Detroit hurler Jesse Tannehill, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Dodgers a 2-1 lead.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Jones told the Yokohama Bulletin.
At 59-72, the Dodgers claim last place in the Senior Circuit Mama Mia.
