Eagles Stay Hot, Beat Browns, 4-3 | The Houston Eagles had to overcome a fine effort from St. Louis pitcher Burleigh Grimes to grab a narrow 4-3 win at Buffalo Stadium. Grimes went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. Tim Spooneybarger, now 6-3, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 0 and walking 0. Takashi Saito, credited with the save, is now 34 for 38 in save opportunities.
In the bottom of the seventh, Michael Brantley put Houston in front with a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 1st and 2nd, he rapped a 2-run double, making the score 4-3, Eagles.
"We take it day by day here," said Brantley, "and today was a good one for us."
