| American Giants Prevail, 3-1, Over Los Angeles | The Chicago American Giants and Los Angeles Angels played a tight game with the hosts claiming a hard-fought win.
The Chicago American Giants defeated the Los Angeles Angels, 3-1, in Senior Circuit action at Rube Foster Park. Chicago pitcher Billy Hoeft had a standout performance. In 7 innings, Hoeft surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. Matt Thornton was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 20 of 26 save opportunities.
Steve Garvey contributed to the Chicago win with a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 1 RBI.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Garvey told the Chicago News.
