Federals Sneak Past Monarchs, 4-3 | Chicago starter Homer Bailey had a strong outing against the Kansas City Monarchs at Wrigley Field. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 4-3 win. Chicago reliever Nelson Figueroa was the winner. His record is now 3-4. Victor Santos took the loss. The last-place Monarchs have dropped 11 straight games.
The Federals procured the win, in large part because of third baseman Tim Beckham. In the bottom of the tenth, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.
In comments to the Chicago Daily, Beckham admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear." | | | | |
