Americans Lose By a Run at Houston, 1-0 | Buffalo Stadium was the site of a true pitchers' duel.
The Eagles grabbed a win, 1-0, at Buffalo Stadium, overcoming a fine effort from Boston pitcher Johnny Klippstein. Klippstein went 5.2 innings and allowed 1 run. The winner in relief was Tom Griffin. He is now 14-3. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. Brian Fuentes notched his 3rd save in 4 chances.
Houston pinch hitter Fred Carroll helped the Eagles go up, 1-0, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Carroll hit a run-scoring single off Boston pitcher Johnny Klippstein.
