| Federals Shut Out Americans, 4-0 | The Chicago Federals beat the Boston Americans, 4-0, at Fenway Park II. Starting pitcher Jon Matlack was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Matlack got the win, improving to 16-15. He allowed 8 hits and walked 1 over 8.1 innings. Matlack allowed no runs. Their 67-76 record puts the Federals third in the Senior Circuit Mama Mia.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Len Koenecke, the 40-year old left fielder ? Koenecke stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put Chicago up, 3-0. For the game, he was 2 for 3, including 1 double and 1 single.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Koenecke.
