| Stars Dealt 5-4 Loss by St. Louis | The St. Louis Browns did just enough to secure a victory over the Detroit Stars, 5-4, at Sportsman's Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Sonny Gray. The first-place Browns, at 83-59, now lead their division by 11½ games.
In the bottom of the seventh, St. Louis first baseman Jim Viox put his team on top. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he hit his 35th double of the year. Detroit pitcher Bill Donovan served it up. Just like that, the Browns were ahead, 3-2.
"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Gray.
