Grantham was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for the Senators in the win. Ryne Duren got credit for the win, improving to 2-2. He allowed 1 run on 5 hits in 5 innings. The loss makes Birmingham 16-13.
Washington used the bat of Justin Maxwell to get the win. The center fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Senators ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
