Monarchs Lose, 3-1, at Elvis Stadium | Memphis turned a good effort from starter Tommy John into a win over the Kansas City Monarchs at Elvis Stadium. The final score was 3-1. John, now 4-3, was the winner. In 8.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 2, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Carlos A Diaz nailed down his 5th save.
Glenn Wright took Victor Santos deep in the bottom of the fourth. His 2-run home run put the Red Sox on top, 2-0. In all, Wright had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 3.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Wright told the Memphis Citizen.
