Beltre Batters Houston Big Time
Adrian Beltre was at the head of a Birmingham hit parade today at Rickwood Field. The third baseman went to the plate 6 times and came away with 5 hits, sparking the Black Barons to a 12-4 victory over the Houston Eagles.

"I told the guys in the dugout, just be thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging Beltre told reporters after the game. "Seems like it worked out well for us today."

Eagles skipper Charles Wolfson said later that the club gave up "too much plate."

"Not the way we planned it," he said. "Every hitter in the league will rip you when you do that."

Adrian Beltre hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, grounded out in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.

This year Beltre has socked 36 hits in 124 at-bats for a .290 average with 6 home runs. He is getting on base at a .331 pace and his totals also include 29 RBIs and 19 runs scored.
