| Stars Prevail, 6-5, Over Yokohama | Fans watched the Detroit Stars and the Yokohama Dodgers fight to the finish.
The Detroit Stars bested the Yokohama Dodgers, 6-5, at Tiger Stadium. Larry Herndon was one of the standouts. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. At 20-12, the Stars have played well so far.
In the bottom of the seventh, Bill Mazeroski put Detroit in front with a clutch hit. With two gone and a runner on 3rd, he rapped a run-scoring single, making the score 6-5, Stars.
"I just tried to make good contact," said Herndon.
