Robinson Slugs Black Barons to 7-3 Win | The home crowd had a good time watching the Chicago Federals and Birmingham Black Barons get after it.
The Birmingham Black Barons trumped the Chicago Federals, 7-3, at Rickwood Field. Birmingham shortstop Brooks Robinson was terrific. He hit 3 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring three times. Claude Osteen got the win, improving to 7-1. He worked 7 innings, giving up 2 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. Robbie Weinhardt earned the save for Birmingham, his 3rd.
In the first inning, Robinson had a 2-run home run for Birmingham. It was his 12th home run of the season and put the Black Barons on top, 2-0.
Robinson told a Birmingham Citizen reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
