Eagles Make American Giants 8-4 Losers | The Houston Eagles beat the Chicago American Giants by a score of 8-4. catcher Buck Rodgers deserved the lion's share of the credit. Rodgers went 2 for 3 with a double and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Eagles. Bill Bayne got the win, improving to 2-3. He held the American Giants to 2 runs on 5 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 0 and walking 2. Earning his 10th save of the year was Takashi Saito.
Houston used the timely hitting of Dustin Pedroia to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Eagles on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We came out aggressive," said Eagles manager Charles Wolfson. "We came out swinging the bats."
The second-place Eagles have won 4 straight games. | | | | |
