Murphy Powers Athletics Offense | The Kansas City Athletics defeated the Washington Senators, 5-4, at RFK Stadium today. Leading the charge for Kansas City was designated hitter Danny Murphy. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Kansas City reliever Felix Rodriguez was the winner. His record is now 9-2. Joe Nathan took the loss. After today's action, Kansas City sits at 65-79, while Washington falls to 62-83.
Murphy came through with some timely hitting for Kansas City. With Washington trailing 4-3 in the top of the eighth, Murphy hit a 3-1 fastball for a 2-run home run. His 30th home run of the season made it 5-4, Kansas City.
