Big Game from Aikens Not Enough, Dodgers Lose | Despite a great performance by Yokohama first baseman Willie Aikens, the Houston Eagles defeated the Dodgers by the score of 5-4 at Kanagawa Prefecture Park. Aikens hit 3 home runs. Kevin Tapani picked up the win, improving his season record to 15-7. He struck out 6 in 7 innings. Takashi Saito, credited with the save, is now 39 for 43 in save opportunities.
Dave Bancroft put Houston in front, 5-2, when he hit a solo home run off Mike Hampton in the top of the third. It was his 16th home run of the season.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Bancroft said after the game.
