The 9-2 Houston win over Chicago was due in large part to Bernie F Williams. The Eagles left fielder went 3 for 5 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 3 times. Fritz Peterson, the winning pitcher, improved to 14-11. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 5 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 2 and walking 2. With the win, Houston pushed its record to 91-56.

Houston relied on the hitting of Bill Monroe to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Eagles on top, 3-0. For the game, Monroe had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
