Monarchs Need Extra Frames to Get Past Angels
The 6-4 Kansas City win over Los Angeles was due in large part to Al Kaline. The Monarchs center fielder was 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Kansas City raised its record to 79-71 with the win.

In the top of the tenth, Kaline hit a 2-run home run to put his team on top. The Monarchs would go on to win the game.

"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Kaline told the Kansas City Times.
