| Eagles Snag 5-3 Win | The home crowd came to cheer on their first-place Houston Eagles.
The Houston Eagles defeated the Chicago Federals, 5-3, at Buffalo Stadium today. Leading the charge for Houston was shortstop Dave Bancroft. He was 3 for 4 with 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI. Brian Fuentes got the save, his 5th in 9 chances.
Bernie F Williams had a clutch hit in the bottom of the eighth inning. With two men out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, the Houston center fielder hit a 2-run single. That put the Eagles in the lead, 5-3.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Williams said after the game.
Chicago now has a 5-game losing streak.
