Eagles Edge Past Senators, 2-1 | The Washington Senators got a superb performance from pitcher Joe Nathan, but the Houston Eagles still won the game, 2-1. Nathan threw 5 innings of shutout ball. Houston reliever Takashi Saito picked up the win, raising his record to 2-2. Ryne Duren was tagged with the loss. The win elevated the Eagles to 22-17.
In the bottom of the ninth, with two out and the game tied, 1-1, shortstop Tim Anderson won it for Houston. With a runner on 3rd, Anderson hit a first pitch fastball from Ryne Duren for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 2-1 win.
