Dodgers Fall Short, 5-4, at Boston
The Yokohama Dodgers got a superb performance from left fielder George Foster. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Boston. The Americans won the game, 5-4. Foster was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The win lifted the Boston record to 27-20.

Omar Vizquel was 1-3 for Boston. In the bottom of the sixth, with the teams deadlocked, 4-4, Vizquel delivered for the Americans. His run-scoring ground out put Boston on top, 5-4.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Boston manager Ice Chamberlin. "It's usually not just one thing."
