| Red-Hot Red Sox Win 7th Straight | The home crowd had a good time watching the Boston Americans and Memphis Red Sox get after it.
The Boston Americans got a superb performance from pitcher Fritz Ostermueller. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Memphis. The Red Sox won the game, 6-3. Ostermueller threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball. Memphis reliever Jose Mijares was the winner. His record is now 1-2. The losing pitcher was Monty Kennedy.
Had Chase Utley not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Utley hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Red Sox.
"I believe in our guys," said Memphis skipper Joel Mejiano. "I like the energy they're playing with."
Memphis has now reeled off 7 straight wins.
