Monarchs Continue Skid Thanks to Viox, Browns | Jim Viox was a major factor in the 8-3 St. Louis win over Kansas City. The Browns first baseman was 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 4 runs. St. Louis starter Win Mercer was credited with the win after throwing 119 pitches over 7.2 innings. His record now stands at 1-1. Kansas City falls to 0-6.
St. Louis took a 5-3 lead on Viox's 2nd double of the season. The run-scoring double, which he hit off Fernando Rodney in the top of the seventh, propelled St. Louis to the win.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Viox. | | | | |
