Skidding Senators Lose 13th Straight | Houston starter Bill Bayne had a strong outing against the Washington Senators at RFK Stadium. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 4-2 win. The winner was Houston reliever Tim Spooneybarger, now 2-1. The loser was Smokey Joe Williams. Takashi Saito converted his 16th save in 17 tries.
Houston relied on the hitting of Bernie F Williams to pick up the win. The left fielder ripped a run-scoring triple in the top of the eighth inning to put the Eagles on top, 3-2. For the game, Williams had 1 triple and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Williams said.
The losses continue to add up for Washington, which has now fallen 13 times in a row. | | | | |
