| Browns Upend Black Barons, 4-2 | Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the St. Louis Browns got the win.
The St. Louis Browns beat the Birmingham Black Barons, 4-2. St. Louis pitcher and Greenfield, Wisconsin, native Kyle Gibson led the way. St. Louis leads the Junior Circuit Fernando by 10 games.
The Browns got a big boost from shortstop Ozzie Smith who had a run-scoring ground out in the top of the seventh inning off Black Barons hurler Glenn Gardner. It was his 21st RBI of the season and put St. Louis on top, 1-0.
Smith called the win "a collective effort."
