| Senators Top Detroit, 4-3 | The Washington Senators managed to get by the Detroit Stars, 4-3, at Tiger Stadium. Washington pitcher Smokey Joe Williams set himself apart with his performance. Williams, now 6-4, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 9, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs. The win has Washington at 24-36.
Washington used the timely hitting of Justin Maxwell to capture the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Senators on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Williams told the Washington Chronicle.
