| Extra-Inning Win by Browns Over Black Barons | St. Louis picked up a win at Rickwood Field, toppling the Birmingham Black Barons, 5-3. Pitcher Burleigh Grimes was one of the reasons the Browns triumphed. Ren Kelly, credited with the save, is now 3 for 3 in save opportunities. The win puts St. Louis at 38-22 this season.
The outcome might have been different for St. Louis, had it not been for Glenn Beckert, the 23-year old second baseman . Beckert stroked a 2-run double in the top of the tenth inning to put St. Louis up, 5-3. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Grimes.
