Chicago reliever Brian Boehringer picked up the win, upping his record to 1-2. Larry Pape shouldered the loss. With the win, Chicago pushed its record to 34-30.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Steve Garvey came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Milwaukee pitcher Larry Pape, he hit a 1-0 changeup for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Chicago on top, 4-2.
