| Americans Drop Eagles, 5-2 | The Boston Americans beat the Houston Eagles, 5-2. Boston pitcher and Coal Creek, Colorado, native Tom L Hughes led the way. In 6.1 innings, Hughes surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 0. He allowed 2 runs. The Americans, now 7-1, have stormed out of the gates.
The Americans got a lift from right fielder Bob L Johnson who had a 2-run double in the bottom of the first inning off Ted Gray. It was his 2nd double of the season and put Boston in front, 2-0.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Boston manager Ice Chamberlin. "It's usually not just one thing."
