| Eagles Deal Bears 2-1 Loss | County Stadium was the site of the home opener for the Milwaukee Bears. The contest featured a prime matchup between Kevin Tapani of the visiting Houston Eagles and Willie Foster of the Bears. The final score was 2-1, the Eagles getting the win. Willie Foster turned in the best performance.
Houston got the win thanks to a clutch hit from Tom M Foley. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the 12th inning to put the Eagles ahead, 2-1. Though it was his only hit in 1 at-bat, it had a major impact on the outcome.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Foley told the Houston Daily.
