| Black Barons Lose to Americans, 6-3 | Boston Americans starter Fritz Ostermueller was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Birmingham Black Barons, 6-3. Ostermueller got the win, improving to 11-6. He allowed 9 hits and walked 0 over 8.2 innings. Ostermueller allowed 3 runs. Monty Kennedy got the save, his 10th in 15 chances.
The Black Barons had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Americans going into the bottom of the second inning. That changed quickly when the 20-year veteran Omar Vizquel came to the plate. Vizquel hit a 2-run double on a 0-1 screwball from Birmingham hurler Garland Braxton. It was Vizquel's 6th double of the year.
"Fritz -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Americans manager Ice Chamberlin. "He was the key to us winning."
The victory gives Boston a record of 47-33.
