New York rode a good effort from starter Dennis Lamp to beat the St. Louis Browns at Yankee Stadium I. The final score was 4-2. Pete Schourek converted his 14th save in 20 tries. New York currently is in second place in the Junior Circuit Waterloo at 41-42.

A defensive miscue in the bottom of the fourth cost the Browns. With New York trailing 2-1, Jack Clark reached on an error by the 1B, driving in 1 run. New York ended up winning the ballgame.

"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Clark said.
