American Giants Mow Down Federals, 9-4 | The Chicago American Giants topped the Chicago Federals, 9-4, in Senior Circuit action at Wrigley Field. The standout performance belonged to Chicago pitcher and Oshkosh, Wisconsin, native Billy Hoeft. The win gives Chicago a season record of 46-38.
Chicago used a well-timed hit by Jackie Bradley to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the American Giants ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"I liked his command," said Chicago manager Matt Reynolds. "Billy was throwing strikes." | | | | |
