Senators Upend Black Yankees, 6-4
The Washington Senators defeated the New York Black Yankees, 6-4. Doing his part was left fielder Jim Rice, who went 4-5 with a double and 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI. The winning pitcher was Smokey Joe Williams. He tossed 121 pitches over 7.2 innings, allowing 4 runs on 9 hits. Jumbo Brown got the save, his 10th in 11 chances.

Rice contributed in the top of the fourth. With a runner on 1st, he hit a run-scoring double. It was one at-bat among others that helped Washington get the win.

"Winning is the only thing that really matters," Rice told the Washington Chronicle. "If you can win without even breaking a sweat, more power to you."

Washington is now 39-49, New York 42-46.
