Americans CF Griffey Jr has 3 hit night in Win | Good production from designated hitter Ken Griffey Jr helped the Boston Americans topple the New York Black Yankees, 6-4. Griffey Jr was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Americans. Brickyard Kennedy, the winning pitcher, improved to 4-6. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 7 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 3. Monty Kennedy was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 11 of 17 save opportunities.
Griffey Jr contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Boston in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 3-2, Griffey Jr took a fastball from Kid Nichols and stroked the home run to right-center. His 3rd home run of the season allowed the Americans to leap in front, 4-3.
