Starting pitcher Buttons Briggs pitched well enough to help the Los Angeles Angels beat the Boston Americans, 6-3. Norm Charlton came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record now stands at 1-2. The win puts Los Angeles at 37-59.

Los Angeles took a 5-3 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. With one out, designated hitter Freddy Leach hit a 2-run home run that brought the crowd to its feet.

"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Leach.
