| Americans Prevail, 3-1, Over Washington | In a low-scoring affair between the Boston Americans and the Washington Senators, pitcher Fritz Ostermueller was the difference between victory and defeat. The Boston left-hander earned accolades in the 3-1 Americans win. Bill Bartley, credited with the save, is now 1 for 1 in save opportunities. The triumph puts Boston at 55-45 for the season.
With two out in the bottom of the seventh, Tony R Armas had a game-changing hit. The Americans center fielder slammed a run-scoring single off Ryne Duren, making the score 3-1, Boston.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Washington skipper Rickie E. Shaw, "and it cost us."
