Koenecke Propels Federals to 8-1 Win
The home crowd had a good time watching the Milwaukee Bears and Chicago Federals get after it.

Chicago left fielder Len Koenecke had a 3-RBI performance, which helped his team down the Milwaukee Bears, 8-1. Picking up the win was Jon Matlack. He went 8.1 innings, allowing 1 run on 5 hits. The left--hander struck out 4 and walked 2.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Federals had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the first, when catcher Thurman Munson hit a 2-run single. The single came off Robin Roberts and made the score 2-0, Federals. Munson went 2 for 5 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

Munson told a Chicago Daily reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.

The Federals go to 45-57, putting them last in the Senior Circuit Mama Mia.
