| Red Sox Edge American Giants, 2-1 | The Memphis Red Sox picked up a win at Elvis Stadium, knocking off the Chicago American Giants, 2-1. Starting pitcher Ralph Branca played a key role in the triumph. Carlos A Diaz was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 22 of 24 save opportunities. With the win, Memphis upped its record to 61-40.
Kevin Mench contributed to the Memphis win with a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the right fielder had 3 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
