Browns Top Boston, 5-4
The St. Louis Browns did just enough to secure a victory over the Boston Americans, 5-4, at Fenway Park II. Nobody did more than pitcher Win Mercer. Mercer picked up the win for St. Louis, going 8 innings. He gave up 4 runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 18-4. Dave LaRoche got the save, his 8th in 10 chances.

The most important at-bat for St. Louis came in the top of the ninth inning, when catcher Mike Colbern stroked a 1-0 fastball to left for a run-scoring single, putting St. Louis up, 5-4.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Mercer said.

The Junior Circuit Fernando-leading Browns have a record of 62-40.
