American Giants Pull Back to .500 With Win Over Senators | Chicago second baseman Bret Barberie contributed to his team's 5-3 win over the Washington Senators. Barberie, who finished 4th in the NL in batting average with .304 in 2003, went 2 for 3 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the American Giants. Matt Thornton earned his 15th save in 20 chances. Chicago raised its record to 55-55 with the win.
In the top of the second of a scoreless game, Barberie hit a 3-run home run to put his team ahead.
